GlenDronach launches cask strength whisky
Aberdeenshire-based distillery GlenDronach has produced a cask strength whisky, which has been bottled in November.
The new cask strength version from GlenDronach supplements the 12, 15, 18 and 21-year-old whiskies that are currently produced by the distillery.
This new drop is personally selected by managing director Billy Walker and it has been matured in a combination of Spanish Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso Sherry casks.
The first batch of the GlenDronach cask strength comprises 12,000 bottles and the company describes the nose as being, “a luscious balance of succulent sherry aromas explode in honey-drizzled golden sultanas spiced by warm oak and gentle ginger”.
The 54.8% ABV whisky is non chill filtered and of a natural colour, with a palate that gives, “intense toffee and cocoa cascade into the rich sherry-soaked dark fruits. Zested orange explodes in the long, alcohol-infused chocolate fondant.”
GlenDronach was founded in 1826 and was one of the first licensed distilleries.
