Remy Cointreau may become a majority shareholder of Cognac company Larsen

The French drinks company has entered exclusive negotiations with a view to become the major shareholder of Larsen, one of the last independent producers of AOC Cognac.

Founded in 1926, Larsen is run by the Larsen family, and has a ‘significant’ range of premium products, including a sizable inventory of aged eaux-de-vie.

In a statement, Remy Cointreau said: “In the event of a favourable outcome to the negotiations, the signing of an agreement will remain subject to authorisation and disclosure procedures in accordance with current regulations.”
