Master of Malt launches navy strength rum
By Andy YoungMaster of Malt has confirmed that it will follow last month’s launch of a stronger ‘Bathtub gin’ with a new navy strength Rumbullion rum with a 57% abv.
Masters of Malt is launching a new navy strength Rumbullion iwth 57% abv
Rumbullion is a spiced Caribbean rum, which is currently available as a 42.60% abv product from Professor Cornelius Ampleforth.
Last month Master of Malt launched a new navy strength version of their Bathtub gin, and has decided to follow that with a stronger version of Rumbullion.
The new rum will have a higher alcohol content, which will “give it more impact on the palate and makes for a very warming drink indeed”.
In a statement, Master of Malt said: “For the navy strength version of Rumbullion, we’ve taken the same basic recipe, and simply scaled up the vanilla, sugar and spice content in line with the abv.
“The reason for this is pretty straight-forward, Rumbullion is already a pretty aggressively spiced little number as it is, and the Navy Strength version was more than capable of standing up to the initial abv at the same proportional concentration.”
The packaging for the new product has been kept similar to the original Rumbullion style with crinkled brown paper and black wax.
The new navy strength rum is available for £45.95 and is described as having, “an absolutely huge whack of high-proof spicy vanilla-laden complexity. Hints of Manuka honey and mouth-watering cinnamon form its heart, with molasses, candy floss, toffee apples, crème brûlée and clove-studded oranges.”
