Alan Lodge writers award deadline extended
Due to overwhelming response, the deadline for entries for the Alan Lodge Young Spirits Writer of the Year award has been extended to 5 October.
Alan Lodge sadly passed away after a brain hemorrhage in February 2012
The award, which is launching for the first time this year, is designed to recognise young spirits writers from across the world, and celebrate the life of former The Spirits Business deputy editor Alan Lodge, who tragically passed away in February.
Spirits writers aged 35 or under from anywhere in the world can enter the competition for the chance to win £1,000 and a trip to the Ardbeg distillery in Scotland – the home of Alan’s favourite Scotch.
Up to four samples of work can be submitted for the judges’ consideration – a panel entirely independent from both The Spirits Business and our sister title, The Drinks Business.
We can also announce that the judges for the inaugural Alan Lodge award are:
Karen Fullerton – Global brand ambassador, Glenmorangie and Ardbeg
Chris Mason – CEO, First Drinks Brands Ltd
Vanessa Wright – communications director, Chivas Brothers
Marcin Miller – Quercus Communications Ltd
Neil Ridley – director, Cask Strength Creative
Dominic Roskow – freelance drinks writer
The winner will be announced at The Spirits Masters Lunch in central London on 20 November, and will be invited to attend as our guest.
Entries must be submitted to info@thespiritsbusiness.com no later than Friday 5 October, with the subject heading: Alan Lodge International Young Spirits Writer of the Year Award
