Absolut vodka’s new Absolut Craft range designed by legendary mixologist Nick Strangeway, is set for release next month – but for professional bartender use only.
The exclusive range – consisting of Herbaceous Lemon, Bitter Cherry and Smokey Tea – will debut in select bars in the UK, Sweden and the USA.
Just 10-15 bars in London and Stockholm and 150 across 10 US cities have been selected by Absolut to receive the limited edition range in October.
Using natural, 100% traceable ingredients, Absolut Craft is a small batch product – just 3,000 9-litre cases have been produced – designed specifically to excite the global bartending community.
Strangeway, who helped unveil the range at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans in July, said: “My conundrum: how to create a blended vodka that would have bartenders bending over backwards to have it on their back bars? I wanted to create something that I would proudly use in my most ambitious recipes, and I believe I have.”
Absolut Craft: Herbaceous Lemon features a blend of citrus herbs, as opposed to fruit, including dried lemon myrtle. The result is a 41% abv vodka with a zesty sherbet tang and savoury notes of lemon thyme and lemongrass.
Absolut Craft: Bitter Cherry is a 42% abv aperitif-style vodka blend of eight raw ingredients including dried sweet cherries, which has been distilled in heavily toasted European oak barrels for a spicy vanilla edge.
Absolut Craft: Smokey Tea is a blend of Lapsang Souchong with bitter Seville orange, clove and ginger. The brand describes its taste as being ‘salty, meaty and even slightly gamey’, which gives way to orange and light, floral notes.
