Scotch distilleries feature in ageless Master of Malt range
By Becky PaskinMaster of Malt is releasing an independent bottling of no age-statement single malt whiskies from four Scotch distilleries.
The first four releases in Master of Malt’s Boutique-y Whisky Company range are almost sold outThe ‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ range of single malts features four small batch editions from Ardbeg, The Macallan, Caperdonich and Port Ellen.
Each 500ml bottle is decorated in comic book-style hand-illustrations inspired by inside jokes and renowned collectors of whisky.
Master of Malt claims the decision to release the bottlings without an age statement is to allow whisky enthusiasts to focus on “the flavour of each bottling rather than age”.
New batches will not be created until quality stock becomes available, and as such the whisky’s age will vary from batch to batch.
It expects further releases from the four initial distilleries plus others over the coming months and years.
So far Master of Malt has sold out of The Macallan (£48.95) and Port Ellen (£229.95), but bottles of Ardbeg (£54.95) and Caperdonich (£99.95) are still available.
The release follows claims by The Macallan recently that whiskies that stick to bottlings with age statements are “lazy and one-dimensional”.
