New Yamazaki Cask Collection shows off wood
By Becky PaskinSuntory is to unveil four limited edition single malt Yamazaki whiskies, each aged in a different cask made at its cooperage in Japan.
The Yamazaki Cask CollectionThe four casks used for the Yamazaki Cask Collection are bourbon, sherry, puncheon and mizunara, the latter of which is an oak indigenous to Japan.
Although Suntory currently produces Yamazaki as a12 year-old, 18 year-old and 25 year-old, the Cask Collection will be released without an age statement to “show the subtlety, refinement and complexity” of the woods.
The Yamazaki Bourbon Barrel, Yamazaki Puncheon and Yamazaki Sherry Cask all have an abv of 48% and an RRP of £70. The Yamazaki Mizunara however has an RRP of £250 and an abv of 48%.
The range is being released to take advantage of the Christmas gifting season, and is distributed by Cellar Trends in the UK.
