Tequila recalled after glass fragments found

The Ohio Department of Commerce has recalled bottles of 1800 Tequila, after glass fragments were found.

Tequila brand 1800 often partners with artists to decorate its bottles

The department’s Division of Liquor Control has requested 1.75 litre bottles of 1800 Silver and Reposado be returned after glass fragments were noticed to have fallen from the glass bottle stopper into the liquid.

According to its investigation, many 1800 bottles have been damaged through the normal course of transit, and while they appear undamaged before opening, glass has been falling from the stopper into the Tequila.

The Division removed all bottles from the shelves of its Liquor Agencies, while shipments from 1800’s warehouses have also been temporarily halted.

“The Division is not aware of anyone who has been harmed by a damaged bottle,” the Division said in a statement. “However, out of an abundance of caution to protect Ohioans, the Division continues its investigation and is requiring the product supplier to correct the problem.”

The Division has stipulated that the problem is a fault of the packaging, not with the 1800 Tequila.

Customers who bought a bottle may return it to the store from whence it was purchased for a refund or exchange.
