Sazerac introduces Colonel E.H. Taylor Straight Rye whiskey
By Becky PaskinBuffalo Trace Distillery is releasing a new, small batch rye whiskey – the fifth in its E.H. Taylor collection.
Colonel E.H. Taylor Straight Rye Whiskey from Buffalo Trace DistilleryThe Sazerac-owned Kentucky distillery will roll out Colonel E.H. Taylor Straight Rye Whiskey in the US from late August, but claims it is an ‘altogether different recipe and profile’ than its other rye whiskey, Sazerac Rye.
Colonel E.H. Taylor Straight Rye Whiskey contains only rye and malted barley with zero corn, and has an abv of 50%. Buffalo Trace claims that as a result the whiskey has an aroma of dried fruit, black pepper and fresh dill, with a balance of dark spices and caramel on the tongue.
Like its predecessors in the E.H. Taylor collection, the rye will be bottled with a vintage label and canister and have a very limited availability. Although a specific release amount hasn’t been detailed, Buffalo Trace intends to release a new batch of the expression every year.
It joins Old Fashioned Sour Mash Bourbon, Single Barrel Bourbon, Warehouse C
Tornado Surviving Bourbon and Barrel Proof Bourbon in the collection, all of which have been available since early 2011.
Colonel E.H. Taylor Straight Rye Whiskey will have an RRP of US$69.99 for a 750ml bottle.
