Frozen vodka Fris makes US comeback
By Becky PaskinFris, the Scandinavian freeze-distilled vodka, is to be relaunched in the US by The Absolut Company with a brand new bottle design and two new flavours.
Absolut’s freeze distilled vodka Fris is available once more in the US
Fris Citrus Freeze and Fris Orange Freeze have begun rolling out across the States along with the brand’s traditional unflavoured product.
All three products are presented in a new, slick bottle designed to reflect the brand’s Nordic roots.
“We’re incredibly excited to reintroduce this innovative vodka to the US market,” said Dan Lundberg, global marketing director for Frïs. “No other vodka is created in quite the same way. Now it has a bottle that is just as unique.”
While most vodka production involves heating the liquid to remove impurities, Fris uses a freeze-distillation method, chilling the vodka down to -10C (14F) to separate and extract impurities.
In addition to the two new Fris flavours, Absolut intends to launch a third, Fris Whipped Freeze, in 2013.
Maxime Kouchnir, vice president of vodka, Pernod Ricard USA, which owns The Absolut Company, said: “There are many flavours out there but none give the shivering sensation of the new Frïs flavours. They take familiar flavours to a new level and add a refreshing edge to your favourite drinks.”
All three expressions will be available in 375ml, 750ml, 1 litre and 1.75 litre bottles, and are designed to be drunk ice-cold.
