By Becky PaskinBenRiach Scotch whisky has partnered with Joel Harrison and Neil Ridley of Caskstrength to produce a limited edition 16-year old single malt.
Neil Ridley and Joel Harrison of Caskstrength sign bottles of their new 16-year old BenRiach Scotch
The 16-year old BenRiach Single Malt Scotch Whisky has been labelled with the ‘Cask Strength and Carry On’ logo, with each bottle individually numbered and signed by the two whisky experts and recent judges for The Spirits Business’ World Whisky Masters and Irish Whiskey Masters.
Bottled in 1996, having spent four years in a Pedro Ximinez sherry cask, the whisky is unsurprisingly cask strength with an abv of 55.2%.
Caskstrength claims the BenRiach single malt gas a ‘Werther’s Original’ nose with notes of dark, dried fruits and candied lemon peel on the palate, finishing with a taste of slated caramel.
It marks the second in a series of A-Z bottlings by Harrison and Ridley, which began with an Arran Single Malt Scotch that sold out within days.
Just 296 bottles of the BenRiach expression have been produced, with the first 50 sales through Master of Malt accompanied by a Cask Strength and Carry On cotton carrier bag.
