The Macallan’s 64YO Lalique named world’s most expensive whisky
The Macallan’s 64-year old in Lalique, Cire Perdue, has been officially named the most expensive whisky in the world to be sold at auction, after reaching US$460,000 at Sotheby’s, New York.

The distillery’s oldest and rarest whisky, presented in a unique Lalique crystal decanter, was auctioned at the New York auction room in November 2010 but has only now been recognised by Guinness World Records.
David Cox, director of fine and rare whiskies for The Macallan said: “This major accolade from such a world-renowned and respected organisation, proves once and for all that The Macallan is the world record holder.”
The auction completed a global fundraising tour for The Macallan and Lalique, which together with the sale, raised over US$600,000 for charity: water, an organisation providing clean and safe drinking water to developing countries.
