The 18th annual Golden Cup is composed of two separate competitions, a local competition which sees hospitality students and industry staff compete for a wide range of titles, and the international competition which is composed of classical and flairtending rounds only.
The whole event was officially opened in style with 101 bartenders flairing in time to music, in a mix of ninja and Spiderman costumes.
The event, hosted by the Bartenders Association of Taiwan (BAT), the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Social Education Hall of Kaohsuing City, brought together 1,500 competitors from a selection of countries as well as Taiwan.
The winner of the international classic round was Swiss Schnider Lurt with his cocktail ‘Prudance’, while Taiwan nabbed second place in the classical round, as Chen Ya-Chi from the Fortune Institute of Technology impressed the judges with her ‘Classic Mozart’ cocktail.
In joint third place was Singapore’s Kazuhiro Chii and Swedish Slavatore Maggio. The technical prize went to Mart Mesi from Estonia.
