Purl owners open Dach & Sons hot dog bar

Fluid Movement, the group behind the progressive Purl and Worship Street Whistling Shop  bars in London, have launched a premium hot dog, slider, craft beer and whisky restaurant in the capital alongside a second outpost of Purl.

Dach & Sons, a 1960s New York-style eatery that opened in Hampstead this week, featuring a meat-heavy food menu of burgers, bespoke sausages and frankfurters produced by its on-site butcher.

The 70-cover restaurant, which also has an additional 40-cover outdoor terrace area, has a slightly industrial decor broken up with wooden tables, white brick, yellow stools, neon signs and a large Smeg fridge.

Matt Whiley, co-founder of Fluid Movement, said: “We’ve always been one step ahead with the bars and we wanted to apply the formula to a restaurant. Premium hot dog restaurants are starting to trend but nobody else will offer a full, speakeasy package like ours.”

Dach & Sons will also feature a ‘whisky library’  in a vintage bakers rack at the rear of the space.

Meanwhile Purl, which is situated on the first floor above the restaurant, will serve traditional cocktails in true Purl style alongside a range of new products produced in collaboration with Master of Malt, including Cream Gin, Radiation Aged Cocktails, Grenadine Syrup, Exhaustion Tonic and Chip Pan Bitters.

With just 35 seated cover, Purl has a more opulent decor than its eponymous sibling with blue velvet banquettes, black curtained windows and a gold-leaf ceiling dating back to the 1800s.

Fluid Movement launched the original Purl in Marylebone in 2010 to widespread acclaim, and followed it up with the launch of Worship Street Whistling Shop in 2011.
