Jack Daniel’s releases gold medal gift pack in London

Jack Daniel’s is to release a limited edition ‘gold medal’ bottle and gift box in London travel retail for the period of the Olympic Games.

Jack Daniels’ commemorative Gold Medal gift box will be available in travel retail during the Olympic Games

The gift box, which has no connection to the Olympic Games itself, has been designed to commemorate almost 100 years since it won two gold medals in London.

The Tennessee whiskey was awarded a gold medal in 1914 by the Anglo-American Exhibition held in London, which honoured the two countries’ contributions to the world, and then in 1915 by the Institute of Hygiene for continuing standards following Jack Daniel’s death.

The new gift box features a black and gold 1litre bottle of Jack Daniel’s Old No.7 plus two commemorative rocks glasses.

It will be available only in World Duty Free shops at London’s Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports for an RRP of £75.

Available from July to September, the release coincides with the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games, when 338,000 international visitors are expected to visit the capital, mostly via its airports.

“One of our main focuses is to offer our customers travel retail exclusives – unique products which they won’t find on the high street,” said Nigel Sandals, category manager for liquor at WDF. “We actively work with our brand partners to develop these exclusive products and the Jack Daniel’s Limited Edition Double Gold Medal Bottle and Gift Pack is a perfect example. The product presentation is exceptional and we are confident that customers will want to buy this distinctive and unique gift pack.”
