William Grant chooses new chairman

William Grant & Sons has appointed Glenn Gordon, former managing director and great-great grandson of the distiller’s founder, as non-executive chairman.

Gordon replaces Peter Gordon who has stepped down from the role after four years but will continue to work with the business, its Board and committees.

The family distiller hopes for a “seamless transition” between the air in order to maintain pace and growth of brands such as Glendfiddich, Grants and Hendrick’s.

Upon moving into the role as chairman, Glenn Gordon said: “I would like to thank Peter for his contribution and for his energy and passion in developing the business. As non-executive chairman, I look forward to working with the board in support of the management team, led by Stella David, to ensure we continue to build the value of our portfolio of brands for the long-term and maintain our position as an independent family company.”

The current board of directors includes vice chairman Javier Ferran, chairman Charles Gordon, Glenn Gordon, Peter Gordon, Fergus Chamberlain, chief executive Stella David, Robert Pollet, Iain Napier and chief finance officer Dermid Strain.
