Return for Yellow Spot single pot whisky

Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard has announced it is to release a 12-year old follow up to its single pot whiskey Green Spot with an expression not been in circulation since 1968 – Yellow Spot.

Yellow Spot, originally produced by Dublin wine merchant Mitchell & Son, is a 46% ABVA blend of single pot whiskey aged for a full 12 years in three separate casks: American Kentucky first fill oak; Spanish sherry butts; and Spanish Malaga casks used previously only for Pedro Ximenez.
“It’s a welcome back for an old friend last seen in Ireland in the 1960s,” said Robert Mitchell of Mitchell & Sons. “We think it’s a great likeness to the original product and are proud to see it back once again.”

Yellow Spot is the second in a series of single pot whiskeys released by Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard in collaboration with Mitchell & Son, and will be followed by Blue Spot and Red Spot releases over the next two years as part of Pernod Ricard’s plans to reinvigorate the category.

Anna Malmhake, chairman & chief executive of Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard, said: “We are delighted to welcome (Yellow Spot) back into the portfolio today and we’re confident that it will heighten the rekindled interest we see in single pot still whiskies around the globe.”
Retailing for €65 (US$80 or £52), Yellow Spot will initially be available in Ireland through Mitchell & Son, France through Maison du Whisky, Germany through Irisch Lifestyle and online through The Whisky Exchange from the end of May.
