Cockspur Rum goes West (Indies)
Cockspur Rum has announced that it will be the official rum of the West Indies Cricket 2012 England tour.
The sponsorship is the latest in a spate of activities by the brand to strengthen affiliations between the Caribbean spirit and the sport.
The partnership will be accompanied by increased involvement with consumers through presence on social media sites, as well as activities at the sports grounds, and an on-pack promotion offering a chance to win a trip to Barbados, home of Cockspur.
Philip McTeer, Cockspur head of brand UK, said: “Cockspur has built up great brand awareness amongst cricket fans over the years and is continuing this strong association through its involvement with the West Indies cricket tour.
“We’re proud to be an authentic rum from the West Indies island of Barbados and look forward to getting behind the ‘Windies’ team this summer.”
Dr Ernest Hilaire, CEO of the West Indies Cricket Board, added: “As we start our overseas campaign this year the WICB is delighted that locally produced rum Cockspur will be joining us on what we hope will be a successful tour. We look forward to a fruitful and continued partnership with Cockspur.”
