Bushmills goes sweet Stateside
By Marinel FitzSimonsDiageo has launched Bushmills Irish Honey, the latest extension in the Bushmills Irish whiskey range.
The product, launched in late February this year, is available across the US, rolling out later into other global markets.
The decision to make a flavoured whiskey, bucking the current trend for more complex, smokier flavours being launched, highlights the growing interest in the US for flavoured whiskies – a trend indicated by the successful launches of flavoured variants from Jim Beam, Jack Daniels and Wild Turkey, but Scotch and Irish whiskies have until this, shied away from that option.
The spirit was launched last week at a series of events in top bars in New York.
The spirit is a blend of Bushmills Original Irish whiskey and Irish honey, and has an ABV of 35%. A 750ml bottle retails for $24.99.
The Bushmills portfolio includes Bushmills Original, Black Bush, Bushmills 10-Year-Old Single Malt, Bushmills 16-Year-Old Single Malt and Bushmills 21-Year-Old Single Malt.
