Glenfiddich Walks with the Wounded
By Marinel FitzSimonsGlenfiddich is hosting a charity auction to sell a bottle of the Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve single malt in aid of the Walking with the Wounded charity.
The expression was made in honour of Janet Sheed Roberts, granddaughter of founder of the Glenfiddich distillery, Williant Grant, and also oldest person inScotlandat 110 years old.
The bottle is the second of 11 bottles available to the public – one for each decade of Ms Sheed’s life. The first bottle was sold in December 2011 at Bonhams for £46,852 – a world record for the most expensive single malt whisky ever sold at auction.
The auction will take place on Friday 10 February at 6.30pm at The Honourable Artillery Company, led by Christie’s James Bruce-Gardyne. The event will be hosted by Peter Gordon, Glenfiddich chairman and great nephew of Janet and Brian Kinsmann, Glenfiddich master blender – who is also the creator the Reserve single malt. Other speakers include Walking with the Wounded co-founder Edward Parker, and Private Jaco Van Gass who was part of the Everest Summit team – a fundraising initiative to put five wounded servicemen on top of Everest.
Entrance to the auction is by invitation only and anyone who is interested in bidding for the Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve, either in person or on the phone, should apply for their place by email at glenfiddich@wwtw.org.uk or by calling 020 7632 4827.
Glenfiddich hopes to break the world record set by the sale of bottle No.1 in order to raise as much money as possible to support Walking With The Wounded’s work.
