Patel to launch whisky company
By Dominic RoskrowOne of the three people who spent £100,000 on one bottle of whisky is all set to launch his own independent whisky company.
Mahesh Patel is one of the world’s biggest collectors of premium whiskies and is the owner of one of the three bottles of The Dalmore Trinitas. He is also the organiser of the world’s most prestigious whisky show, which is held in Las Vegas.
There were just three bottles of Trinitas made available and Mahesh Patel bought his for £100,000. He already has an extensive collection of some of the world’s best whiskies.
Now he is to turn his hand to whisky retail with the launch of a range of premium cask strength bottlings.
He will fly in to London this week for a private long weekend break with his wife but will be taking time out to meet Whyte & Mackay’s director of rare whiskies David Robertson to finalise the purchase of premium whisky from him.
It is thought that he is in the process of buying four casks of aged whisky from Whyte &Mackay to launch his own independent bottling company. And it is thought that he is talking to independent retail chain The Whisky Shop about exclusive supply deals across the company’s 18 stores.
