Masters of Malt create new Sherry-Whisky hybrid
By Marinel FitzSimonsThe online whisky retailer and independent bottler Masters of Malt has produced a new Christmas drink.
The new concoction, created by distiller Professor Cornelius Ambleforth, rejoices in one of the least catchy names in the market, Proprietary Barely Spirit Drink, which happily obeys all the SWA rules and regulations about naming spirits.
The spirit is a blend of reduced Pedro Ximinez sherry and 10 year old cask strength single malt whisky from Speyside. The idea came from an old tradition of seasoning whisky casks with a reduction of grape juice and sherry to add flavour.
The bottle, packaged in illustrated and annotated brown paper, retails for £49.95 through the site with an ABV of 54.55%.
