Drambuie launches Spirit of ’45 – latest in the Jacobite collection
By Marinel FitzSimons
Drambuie is launching its newest portfolio addition to the Jacobite Collection called The Spirit of ’45 at Cannes TWFA this September.
The latest adition is dubbed “the rarest and most valuable” to the range.
The blended 45 year old whiskies are presented in a hand blown tear-drop decanter and come with a replica Spottiswoode “Amen” glass, used in the 18th century by Jacobite sympathisers. Given this was in direct contradiction with the reigning regime of the time, ownership alone of these objects was enough to constitute an act of treason, making them rare items today.
The 45 year old whiskies have been blended with Drambuie’s secret recipe and aged in Speyside oak.
Offering notes of vanilla, green apples and cut grass on the nose, there are hints of licorice, toffee and cardomon on the palate,.
Tim Dewey, Global Marketing Director for The Drambuie Liqueur Co.commented: “Following the successful launch of The Royal Legacy of 1745 in 2009 and Drambuie 15 last year, the introduction of the ultra-premium Jacobite Collection was a natural progression and ideal fit for the exclusive Travel Retail market. We are delighted with the results, which unite every aspect of our royal Jacobite past with our continued commitment to craftsmanship and exceptional quality.”
There are 150 presentation boxes available, retailing for £3,500 each, available in selected Travel Retail outlets.
Boxes include hand-blown decanter with crystal stopper, Amen glass and a history to the Jacobite rebellion and Drambuie’s antique glass collection, by Ian Buxton.
