Black Button unveils 20 Plate Vodka
By Annie HayesNew York’s Black Button Distilling is to replace its Wheat Vodka expression, the first spirit ever released by the distillery, with new 20 Plate Vodka.
20 Plate Vodka is replacing Black Button’s original Wheat Vodka expressionThe new vodka, made in a hybrid still, will replace Black Button Wheat Vodka – the distillery’s first spirit released four years ago.
20 Plate Vodka is first distilled to 80% abv through Black Button’s four plate whiskey column, before it is reduced to 60% abv, then run up a 16 plate vodka column to 96% abv.
According to the distillery, the two-step process creates an “ultra-smooth” vodka that requires “minimal filtering”.
“The 20 Plate Vodka stays true to the style we’ve always had, but this new recipe is smoother, crisper, and cleaner than our first vodka,” said Jason Barrett, Black Button Distilling owner and head distiller.
“As always, Black Button is committed to making the best distilled spirits from local grains and 20 Plate Vodka is our latest example of constant improvement.”
