Michter’s Distillery releases 20yo single barrel
By Amy HopkinsKentucky-based Michter’s Distillery has released 10- and 20-year-old single barrel Bourbons after both were held back at the start of this year for further ageing.
The two bottlings will be available through the distillery’s distribution network from December.
This marks the first time the Michter’s 10 Year Single Barrel Bourbon (US$120) and Michter’s 20 Year Single Barrel Bourbon (US$600) have been made available in 2015 after they were finally approved by master distiller Willie Pratt.
“These two Bourbons were set for release at the beginning of this year, but I held them back for a bit more ageing,” said Pratt. “I wanted them to be just right.”
Earlier this month, Michter’s admitted it had been forced to allocate stocks of the company’s US*1 line of whiskeys, and halt distribution of its US*1 Sour Mash expression altogether until next year both within the US and internationally.
However, the distillery stressed that the measures were only temporary and that US*1 Sour Mash will be back “in supply for 2016”.
