The One British blended whisky gets Sherry twist

The Lakes Distillery – Cumbria’s first distillery in 100 years – has launched a Sherry cask-finished version of its The One British blended whisky brand.

The One limited edition Sherry cask has been launched to celebrate the second anniversary of the brand

Launched in celebration of the distillery’s second anniversary, the limited edition whisky is the first brand extension of The One.

“Experimenting with finishes enables us to enhance what is already an exceptional whisky and there is always great interest in these expressions,” said Paul Currie, managing director of The Lakes Distillery

“Sherry casks are well established in the whisky industry for maturing whisky but are rarely used for finishing a blend.

“Through the use of our sherry cask, we have created a significantly different whisky with a darker tone and a wonderful taste, an excellent way to celebrate our second anniversary.”

The One is thought to be the only whisky created using liquid from across the British Isles and is exported to Europe and Asia.

Said to have a flavour of honey, fruit, smoke and spice, The One limited edition Sherry cask is available exclusively from The Lakes Distillery with an RRP of £39.95.

The One originally launched in October 2013, while The Lakes Distillery – the largest distillery in England – opened in December 2014 and commenced production of English whisky.
