Dan Jago returns to Tesco in new role

Tesco has now confirmed that Jago will return to work for the group on 9 March, albeit in the new role of category director, group wine.
Gavin Warbuton, who oversaw Jago’s duties during his five-month absence, has been promoted to UK category director for Beers, Wines and Spirits.
A statement from the group said: “The Tesco BWS team can confirm Dan Jago will be returning to work in March. The internal investigation into commercial income recognition has now been concluded. Dan was asked to step aside as part of that investigation and will now return to work on Monday 9 March.
“Dan has worked for Tesco for nine years, specialising in the wine as well as the broader drinks category. He has led the wine team to great success and achieved industry recognition for the Tesco wine in-store offering and online proposition.”
Warburton, who has been with Tesco for 15 years, was previously category director for Dairy, but served two years as category director for beer and spirits.
The UK’s Serious Fraud Office has been conducting an investigation into whether the supermarket chain’s accountancy departments and category divisions colluded to alter financial statements.
The findings of the investigation are yet to be made public.
