Brand ambassador Jamie Milne to leave Glenfiddich
By Becky PaskinGlenfiddich’s UK brand ambassador Jamie Milne has announced he is to leave the company after four years in the role.
Jamie Milne, UK brand ambassador for Glenfiddich single malt Scotch whisky, has stepped down from his positionThe Scotsman, who joined William Grant & Sons as brand ambassador in 2010, told The Spirits Business he made the decision to “focus more on family” at home in Glasgow.
“You come to a realisation that family is more important and that’s the decision I’ve made,” he said. “It’s not been an easy one.”
Milne began working with Glenfiddich back in 1990 as a summer tour guide at the Dufftown distillery in between his studies. After graduating, he eventually landed a career in management consulting but left it behind to return to the Scotch whisky brand as UK ambassador.
Last night’s launch of Glenfiddich Excellence 26 Year Old at London’s Hospital Club was the last event Milne will be hosting for the brand.
While Milne’s immediate plans are to “do some gardening” and spend time with family, he added: “I’d love to remain involved in the industry. I have a genuine passion for whisky that has been reignited in the past four years. I just need some time to figure out what’s next.”
Glenfiddich is due to announce Milne’s replacement in the near future.
