Campari takes control of Bulldog Gin distribution
By Amy HopkinsGruppo Campari has enhanced its presence in the super premium gin category after signing a distribution deal with Bulldog Gin.
Bulldog Gin may be acquired by Campari in 2020 if targets are metThe New York-based Bulldog Gin Company has agreed that the drinks group will become the global distributor of its London Dry Gin from 2014.
As the brand owner, the Bulldog Gin Company will continue to distribute its gin in those countries where Campari does not have its own marketing and sales organisations.
Campari hopes that this agreement will enable the group to broaden its category presence as well as “increase on-premise focus, particularly in the US”.
“We are absolutely delighted to announce our partnership with the Bulldog Gin Company,” said Bob Kunz-Concewitz, Gruppo Campari CEO. “With Bulldog Gin we well become a key player in the attractive super premium gin category.”
As part of the deal, Campari will have the opportunity to fully acquire the Bulldog Gin brand, inventory, production and distribution contacts in 2020 if agreed targets are met by 2019.
Anshuman Vohra, Bulldog’s founder and CEO, said that this new partnership will enable the brand to strengthen its worldwide presence.
“It is a high honour to partner with a first class organisation steeped in such a rich history,” he said.
“This partnership fits well within our global expansion strategy and will help ensure that Bulldog continues to cement its rightful place in the global gin scene.”
It was announced last month that the brand had released a higher abv expression aimed at cocktail markets in New York and London, called Bulldog Bold.
