Renowned freestyle Spanish skateboarder Kilian Martin performs a routine to Carmen’s ‘Toreador Song’The short online film stars Spanish professional skater Kilian Martin and is part of the brand’s recently launched global marketing campaign titled ‘Stay True, Leave an Impression’. Shot on location in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the film sees Martin explore his own heritage and early love of gymnastics at a grand theatre where he then performs a skateboarding routine that interprets the famous ‘Toreador Song’ from Bizet’s Carmen. “For me, skateboarding is the ultimate way I express myself, my passions and who I am,” said Martin. “I’m a strong believer that you should stay true to yourself and where you’ve come from, so combining my life’s passions in this film and paying tribute to Carmen, has been so rewarding.” Ballantine’s ‘Stay True, Leave an Impression’ campaign is also accompanied by a television commercial, titled ‘The Drummer’, which is showing in select countries across the world.
