Glen Grant Five Decades marks 50 years for Malcolm John

Dennis Malcolm, master distiller at Glen Grant, has marked his 50th anniversary working for the company with a new limited edition release: Glen Grant Five Decades.

Having unusually been born on the Speyside distillery grounds in 1946, Malcolm first started work at Glen Grant at the age of 15 as an apprentice cooper.

After assuming roles including distillery manager and ambassador, Malcolm eventually became master distiller of the single malt in 2006 under the new ownership of Gruppo Campari.

In that time, he has worked with Campari to develop the distillery’s product line.

“We would like to congratulate Dennis on this incredible milestone and fantastic achievement,” said Christophe Schaillee, regional director Europe for Gruppo Campari. “His ongoing passion and leadership has been integral to the brand, ensuring that Glen Grant remains true to its roots whilst working with us to develop the product line into a global success.

“Glen Grant’s long history is one of tradition and innovation and Dennis’ life very much mirrors this. We couldn’t ask for a better ambassador and look forward to exciting new expressions for years to come, thanks to his endless creativity and strong ‘nose’ for detail.”

To mark the anniversary, Malcolm has developed Glen Grant Five Decades, a limited edition whisky created from a range of cask vintages across the past fifty years, each selected by the master distiller as his favourite.

The single malt will be available in the UK from July 2013 for an RRP of £115.
