Buddha Bar London set to repoen

London’s Buddha Bar is set to re-open its doors this autumn at a new location in Knightsbridge, almost 18 months after going into administration.

Previously located near Waterloo Bridge, Buddha Bar closed after going into administration in May 2010.

The new restaurant and bar will be located at 145 Knightsbridge on the site of a former Chicago Rib Shack when it officially opens on 1 November, following a soft opening on 26 October.

The Buddha Bar brand was founded in Paris in 1996 by Raymond & Tarja Visan, and now features several outlets in major cities around the world.

Tarja Visan said: “Buddha-Bar is universal, each destination unique in its own right. With our brand new London restaurant, we have ensured the concept is flexible to the British lifestyle, yet still attractive to the restaurant’s eclectic audience.”

As well as featuring an extensive Pan-Asian menu, the new bar, which is spread over two floors, will have a wide-range of cocktails on offer from “highly skilled mixologists”.

Some of the cocktails on offer include Heart of Darkness, a blend of red grapes, Cognac and red port; The Ultimate, a mix of Maraschino liquor, Cointreau and pineapple; and Oh My Dog, a mix of rose syrup, Pama liquor and white pepper infused Gin.

One of the key features of the previous Buddha Bar was an iconic 18ft Buddha statue situated in the restaurant. This time round there will be a wall-mounted piece comprised of 207 brass Buddha figures, while crystal Chinese dragons hanging from the ground floor ceiling.

Owned by George V Eatertainment, Buddha Bar originally opened in London under franchise in 2008.
