Pantalones Margarita sets world record
Princess Cruises has broken the Guinness World Record for most Margaritas sold in eight hours with its Pantalones-based signature cocktail.

On the cruise liner’s 3,560-guest Regal Princess as it was in Cozumel, the ship sold 3,410 handcrafted Margaritas in the eight-hour timeframe on 17 February. The total surpassed the previous record of 2,728.
Thomas Bradford, official adjudicator from Guinness World Records, said: “You could feel the celebration in every bar of Regal Princess as Princess Cruises made history with a new Guinness World Record title for most Margaritas sold in eight hours.”
The record-breaking cocktail, called the 24K Margarita, is made with Pantalones Blanco Tequila, Cointreau, Grand Marnier, Margarita mix and served over ice in a salted-rim glass.
The 24k Margarita is the most popular signature cocktail sold across Princess Cruises and was ordered more than a million times from 1 Jan 2025 to 7 January 2026.
Sami Kohen, Princess Cruises vice-president of food and beverage, added: “Celebrating one million 24K Margaritas and making history with a Guinness World Records title on National Margarita Day, captures the incredible spirit and enthusiasm our guests brought to create this unforgettable moment at sea – and now, they’ll forever be part of this unforgettable chapter in Princess history.”
The event also saw Regal Princess become the first ship in the Princess fleet history to hold a Guinness World Record title on its own.
Pantalones gained listings for its Tequilas on Princess Cruises in October 2024, alongside other celebrity-founded brands.
Alongside its blanco, Pantalones’ reposado and añejo expressions are also available at bars throughout the Princess fleet.
While the 24K Margarita is a best seller, there are four other Pantalones cocktails available on the ships, created by Princess mixologist Rob Floyd.

They include Pants on Fire (made with Pantalones Organic Reposado, fresh lime juice, Campari, smoked paprika and agave); Sea Legs (made with Pantalones Organic Reposado, Luxardo Maraschino, fresh lime juice, grapefruit juice, agave syrup and soda); Hot Pants (made with Pantalones Organic Blanco, fresh lime juice, pineapple juice, fresh jalapeno and agave); and Fancy Pants Paloma (made with Pantalones Organic Reposado, fresh lime juice and Fever Tree grapefruit).
The cocktails can be delivered to guests via a Pantalones-branded cart that roams the ships and also offers personalised cocktail experiences.
Pantalones co-founders Camila and Matthew McConaughey were recently named ‘godparents’ to Princess Cruises’ new ship, Star Princess. The pair blessed the ship with a bottle of Pantalones on its first journey, wishing it good fortune on all future journeys.
The couple sent a congratulatory video message to the Regal Princess after it broke the world record, which was said to have been met with a loud applause from crew and guests.
The McConaugheys also marked Valentine’s Day with Pantalones last week.
The pair launched Pantalones in October 2023 with the idea to ‘celebrate having fun, doing good and not taking life too seriously’. “Tequila should be fun – and Pantalones is just that,” they said at the time.
