More than 150 entries were blind tasted by our expert panel of judges at the Holborn Dining Room at The Rosewood hotel, London, making it the biggest Gin Masters to date. Cigar brand Frankau & Hunter hosted its annual Summer Cigar Party at the Corinthia Hotel, London, this week with a little help from Havana Club. The Pernod Ricard-owned brand paired its limited edition Tributo 2016 expression with Frankau & Hunter cigars, which proved extremely popular with the evening’s attendees.
Chivas Brothers will award a total of £20,000 to four charities throughout the UK as part of its pledge to “build strong relations” with its local communities. The 2016 charities include Macmillan Cancer Support in the West of Scotland (Paisley, Glasgow and Ayrshire), Beatson Cancer Charity in Dunbartonshire, Alzheimer Scotland in the Northern Scotland region and Jake McCarthy Foundation in the London and Plymouth regions. Each charity will receive an equal £5,00 share of the total funding.
Last weekend, gin lovers across the globe celebrated World Gin Day. In Winchester, imbibers gathered at the Ginchester Fête for a “tongue-in-cheek celebration of gin”. Sponsored by Park Corner, the event featured folk music, Apple Pie Punch, Morris dancers, flower displays and bunting.
Fashion brand Dannijo, founded by Danielle and Jodie Snyder, and Cointreau partnered to celebrate the Art of La Soirée with a summer garden party in New York City with a selection of Cointreau cocktails. Attending the event was Orange is the New Black actress Selenis Leyva.
The annual Taste of London festival got underway this week and Chase Vodka has been on hand – and will be over the weekend – providing guests with #GreatChase cocktails.
The Teeling Whiskey Distillery celebrated its first birthday and the 60,000th visitor through its doors. In a short space of time, the distillery has hosted more than 30 events, served more than 25,000 measures of whiskey and 40,000 cocktails to its guests who flock from around the world.
To celebrate Glenmrangie’s Old Fashioned Week, bartenders have been busy crafting Glenmorangie variants of the classic cocktail. Dan Berger at The Gallery Bar, Ace Hotel Londonm is pictured above with his cocktail, Green Day.
Also marking Glenmorangie’s Old Fashioned Week was David Howie at Scott’s in Troon, who has designed a concoction called, Old Tom Morris.
This week SB caught up with Mr Black Coffee Liqueur co-founder Tom Baker over four delicious cocktails crafted with the product at London’s The Blind Pig. Baker was over from Australia, the brand’s home, as the brand continues to gain traction.
Cointreau collaborated with Be At One bartender Colette Abel on its signature cocktail Cointreau Glamour Fizz. The cocktail will be available at all Be At One venues until the end of June and was designed to celebrate the brand’s sponsorship of the Theatre Actress award at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2016.
