Lights, camera, 150 yrs of Action!

Bacardi has released three short films to celebrate the brand’s 150th anniversary.

The films depict key moments in the brand’s history using innovative filming techniques, designed to mirror the creative process of making a cocktail, using live freeze frame technique.

The 60 second long films were all made by Johannes Leonard in partnership with Partizan and AB/CD/CD.

The films show three different party scenarios, each from different key periods from the past 150 years, starting with the prohibition era in the USA. At the start of the era in 1919, Bacardi encouraged thirst-stricken Americans over to Cuba to “bathe in Bacardi rum” – which they did, coming over in droves.

The second film covers the birth of the Cuba Libre cocktail at the end of the Spanish American war, and the final film depicts the origin of the Bacardi bat logo.

Frank Mertens, global content and communications director for Bacardi rums, said: “Most people have no clue about the richness of the history of Bacardi rum. The challenge we face is to tell our stories without giving a history lesson.

“For that reason, we chose a concept that brings to life our stories in a way that is true to our personality and captures the spirit of the legendary parties we’ve been hosting for decades. Just like it takes the right ingredients to make a great drink, it also takes the right ingredients to make a great party. Bacardi has been finding ways to accomplish both for generations.”

The films can be viewed either on YouTube or on the Bacardi facebook page www.facebook.com/bacardi, or directly from these links: http://www.digitalnewsagency.com/stories/6467-bacardi-releases-heritage-films-to-celebrate-150th-anniversary
