Takamaka brings Seychelles spirit to UK
By Rupert HohwielerSeychelles-based rum brand Takamaka has turned to the UK for its latest campaign, which features beach bars and slushies.

Led by its distributor in the market, Speciality Brands, Takamaka will attend events in the UK throughout June as part of a campaign called The Spirit of Seychelles.
The brand will feature in takeovers, bespoke cocktail menus, in-store tastings and immersive masterclasses at bars as well as events and festivals.
The idea is to invite UK rum fans to explore the brand story and try its range neat and in cocktails.
The campaign will see the brand debut at Taste of London, which will be held on 18-22 June.
During the festival’s five days, The Takamaka’s Beach Bar will serve cocktails created by rum ambassador Dean MacGregor. These include a Dry Daiquiri, Takamaka Punch, Seychelles Spritz and Pina Colada slushies. MacGregor will also host guided tastings and mini masterclasses.
Meanwhile, the Taka Moke – an electric beach vehicle – will be onsite, doubling as a mobile bar and allowing attendees to ‘take pictures while soaking up the island vibes’.
Additionally, in June, Takamaka will partner with two venues in the UK to create rum-themed menus.
The Salt Room in Brighton will host Sunday Sessions on 22 June, 20 July and 24 August. As well as a menu of Takamaka cocktails, a DJ will be on hand to soundtrack the sun going down at the seafront restaurant.
At Goldies, in Kingly Court in London’s Soho, a menu of Takamaka cocktails and slushies will be available on the venue’s terrace.
Speciality Brands took over distribution of Takamaka in the UK in February last year.
In March of this year, the brand opened an island cooperage.
