Duncan Taylor unveils 42YO Bowmore
By Miona MadsenIndependent bottler Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky has released a 42-year-old Bowmore as part of its Rarest Reserve collection.

The Rarest Reserve collection is dedicated to exclusive expressions from the company’s most revered casks.
The 100ml bottle is presented in gold bar packaging, the design of which was first introduced last year for Duncan Taylor’s 33- and 52-year-old Macallan expressions.
Distilled in 1982 at Bowmore Distillery on Islay, the new limited edition single malt whisky was aged in a single Pedro Ximénez (PX) Sherry cask, number 89633.
The expression represents one of the oldest bottlings of Bowmore from Duncan Taylor, and was bottled on 18 April 2025.
Offered at 50.8% ABV, the whisky displays aromas of ripe orchard fruit, ‘smokehouse sweetness’, meadow flowers, toffee-coated fudge, and delicate hints of peat smoke. The palate offers notes of maritime smoke, milk chocolate, peanuts, sweet spices, ginger, and cinnamon.
Shawn Smith, CEO of Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky, said: “Following the success of The Macallan Rarest Reserve last year, we have plans to release a couple of our finest whiskies this year, starting with the Bowmore.
“Bowmore acolytes will love the premise of this collection as it gives them the opportunity to savour our rarer malts at a fraction of the price of a full bottle.”
Limited to 500 bottles, the whisky is now available from The Spirits Embassy online shop.
The 100ml bottle has a recommended retail price of £816 (US$1,093).
In September 2024, Duncan Taylor released the oldest independent bottling of Highland Park single malt: The Accolade 54-year-old.
