Rémy Martin XO teams up with Anish Kapoor
By Miona MadsenCognac brand Rémy Martin has partnered with contemporary artist Anish Kapoor to create a limited edition XO decanter.

The artistic collaboration features a decanter and artwork said to represent Kapoor’s visionary and sensorial exploration of colour, form and space.
Kapoor is recognised for transcending the categories of sculptor, painter, or even architect, working with various materials, from pigment, wax and silicone to stone, steel and cement.
For Kapoor, the opportunity to collaborate with the Cognac brand was a welcomed proposition with a personal connection, as he explained: “There was a sense from the beginning of this project with Rémy Martin that it refers to my history. My father used to drink it when I was a boy in India, and I carried that with me.
“Rémy Martin has a certain sophistication and almost a quiet place in my memory. It has remained a constant, always there; it has a presence.”
Kapoor reimagined the XO decanter with a minimalist design featuring a curved shape and a concave centre in glowing amber tones.
He revisited the original glass mould to create a smooth front surface that blends with the scooped design on the back. The approach is said to amplify the decanter’s luminous effect, enhancing its solar shape.
“I was working with the designers to make the decanter, relating to this liquid and how it functions. This liquid, which I originally knew through my father and have picked up from my past over the years, has become present and real. I toyed with it and decided on a much simpler design,” added Kapoor.
Amaury Vinclet, executive director of Rémy Martin, said: “It’s the nature of the relationship between Rémy Martin and Anish Kapoor that makes this collaboration truly exceptional, between two visionaries on a constant quest for excellence.
“We feel privileged that the artist chose to work on this project because of a personal connection, a memory that shaped his idea of excellence. It radiates the energy of Rémy Martin XO, capturing reflections from the past and promises of new futures, unlocking a sensory space between place and time, art and savoir-faire.”

An exclusive art piece
Kapoor has also created artwork for the House of Rémy Martin that sits within his recent body of painted mirror works.
The concave surface of the vast mirror is inspired by the shades of Rémy Martin XO eaux-de-vie with hundreds of hues, ranging from pale gold to dark amber aged in French oak casks.
Reflecting on his creative process, Kapoor said: “I began to think about a work that would sit alongside the Rémy Martin bottle. It has this radiant presence, it shows through. The colour is the most direct way of getting into it. I wanted to translate these reflections.
“I had to search for this colour because it’s a liquid and as the light changes, it changes – and the concave mirror captures its reflective qualities.”
The artwork is described as portraying a physical presence to the opulence of Rémy Martin XO and its aromas, a symbol of the solar radiance of the XO decanter.
Rémy Martin XO is a blend of hundreds of eaux-de-vie sourced in the two most central crus of the Cognac region.
Jean-Philippe Hecquet, CEO of the House of Rémy Martin, said: “Rémy Martin XO perfectly embodies the Maison’s heritage and savoir-faire. It is the ultimate expression of our terroir, offering an exceptionally smooth, full-bodied blend of eaux-de-vie from Grande and Petite Champagne that gradually releases a wealth of harmonious aromas.
“Its opulent radiance paired with the timeless design of its magnificent decanter has inspired Anish Kapoor, whose creation now becomes a part of our brand’s enduring legacy.”
The limited edition Rémy Martin XO x Anish Kapoor will be available in a 700ml format starting April 2025 in selected markets at a recommended retail price of US$189.99.
