By Miona MadsenSeychelles-based rum brand Takamaka has partnered with Spirit & Co in Denmark and Amyrco in the Maldives as part of its global expansion plan.

Family-owned Takamaka Rum started the new year with distribution in 56 markets, as it launched in Denmark and the Maldives.
Last year, Takamaka relaunched in Spain with Alvarez, entered in Sweden with Anora Group, and was made available in the UK with Speciality Brands.
Bernard d’Offay, founder and export director for Takamaka Rum, commented:
”We are excited to join forces with Spirit & Co and Amyrco to bring our island rum to these new markets. This partnership represents a dynamic growth opportunity, allowing us to tap into evolving spirits landscapes. Together, we’re poised not only to introduce our brand but also to drive meaningful
growth and set new benchmarks in the rum category.”
In the Danish market, Takamaka will be distributed by Spirit & Co.
Jesper Erik Skov, brand manager for Spirit & Co, said: “I am thrilled to bring Takamaka to the Danish market and spread the word about high-quality rum from the Seychelles to Danish restaurants, cocktail bars, and consumers. As a family-owned and independent distillery, I believe Takamaka’s values align closely with ours at Spirit & Co, and I look forward to embarking on this exciting journey together.”
For the brand’s debut in Maldives in South Asia, Takamaka has partnered with Amyrco.
Tharindu Lakshan, manager of commercial channel sales at Amyrco Maldives, added: “Introducing Takamaka to the Maldives is an exciting milestone for Amyrco Maldives Pvt Ltd. This exceptional spirit from the Seychelles embodies the island essence that defines both our destinations.
“Takamaka perfectly aligns with our vision of creating memorable moments for travellers through distinct island-inspired flavours, and we’re eager to share this experience with our customers in the Maldives.”
Takamaka was founded on the Seychelles islands by the d’Offay family in 2002, led by brothers Richard and Bernard.
The company operates the Seychelles’ first molasses distillery, featuring a continuous column still with a production capacity of more than 200,000 litres per year.
At The Spirit Business Awards 2024, Takamaka’s master blender, Steven Rioux, was recognised with a title of Blender of the Year.
