Hattiers Rum seeks £1m investment
UK-based B Corp-certified rum brand Hattiers is aiming to raise more than £1 million (US$1.3m) in funding to accelerate its global expansion.
Deliberately avoiding traditional crowdfunding to gain backing, the brand hopes to engage with investors who bring sector-specific expertise to fuel its growth.
Having already achieved 20% of its funding goal, current investors include top figures from the spirits industry with backgrounds in sales, data and supply chain.
The investment will be used to expand operations, grow the Hattiers team, and support its accelerated move into new markets.
Hattiers aims to build on its UK success and expand into 10 or more export markets over the next three years. To support the next phase, the company has recently welcomed new sales director Richard Shirman to its leadership team.
Shirman’s appointment, which brings experience from some of the largest alcohol groups worldwide, will be instrumental in scaling Hattiers’ market reach, strengthening distribution networks, and advancing its premium positioning internationally.
Philip Everett-Lyons, who founded Hattiers Rum in 2017, said: “We’re not just building a brand; we’re redefining what a premium rum company can achieve by putting sustainability and ethics at the heart of everything we do. Our focus on smart funding means we’re not only looking for capital but for partners who understand our mission and can help us grow strategically.”
As a B Corp-certified brand, Hattiers champions ethical and sustainable business practices. The brand is transparent when it comes to sourcing ingredients and uses low-waste production processes to create its rum.
In May 2023, Hattiers Rum appointed drinks communicator Tom Surgey as its brand ambassador.
