Maestro del vodka: Bravada
By adminInspired by Puerto Rico’s beautiful white sand beaches, palm trees and clear blue skies, Bravada is described as the island’s first premium vodka brand.
Awarded with a Master medal at this year’s Vodka Masters, Puerto Rican brand Bravada impressed the judges with its ‘neutral and crisp character, soft palate, and lovely lingering finish’.
Family-owned Casa Bravada Distillery in Toa Baja was founded in 2020 by husband and wife Carlos López and Claudia Ferrer. The brand was launched a year later.
After years working in his father’s engineering firm, which specialises in designing and building distilleries, López saw an opportunity to bring something new to the spirits industry in the rum-dominant island.
“Producing vodka in Puerto Rico offered a unique challenge. I wanted to create a product that stands out with pride, and reflects both my personal journey and the distilling expertise that has shaped my career,” says López, co-founder and master distiller of Bravada Vodka.
“The brand captures the essence of bravery and boldness. It represents our willingness to take risks and redefine what a local vodka can be. It’s about having the guts to innovate and set new higher standards in a market that’s already well-established.”
Bravada Vodka is produced with corn in a custom-designed pot still, and is distilled six times by using traditional methods to create a premium gluten-free vodka.
López shares his view on how the brand stands out from other vodkas on the market: “Bravada Vodka distinguishes itself with its clean, soft profile. We honour our roots by weaving local culture and heritage into every aspect of the spirit. From our branding to our production methods, we aim to reflect and celebrate Puerto Rican identity and pride in our product.”
Bravada is available in 750ml and 1.75-litre bottles in various local distribution channels in Puerto Rico, including major trade and chain stores. The company seeks to expand to other markets to make the brand more accessible to a broader consumer base.
“The future looks promising for Bravada Vodka. We are focused on expanding our presence both locally and internationally,” he says. “We are also committed to continual innovation and maintaining the high standards that have become our signature.”
López adds: ”Bravada Vodka is a source of immense pride for us. It’s not just a premium product; it’s a testament to our Puerto Rican heritage and our family’s dedication to excellence. Each bottle represents a fusion of tradition and innovation, and we’re thrilled to share this unique expression of our culture with the world.”
