Dalmore unveils Distillery Select range
By Miona MadsenWhyte & Mackay-owned single malt brand The Dalmore has revealed a new limited series, The Distillery Select, in celebration of its Highland home.
The new limited collection features rare parcels of spirits laid down in specific casks hand-selected by The Dalmore’s whisky makers.
Each expression has been selected to highlight how the casks ‘enhance an element of The Dalmore’s signature house style’. All expressions are offered in natural colour, non-chill filtered and bottled at a specifically selected ABV.
The first of the inaugural trio, Dalmore Distillery Select 2009 vintage, was finished in rare Sherry casks from González Byass. Aged for 15 years, the expression is bottled at 52.8% ABV. It displays aromas of ‘Manuka honey, cinnamon and banana bread’ on the nose, followed by notes of ‘orchard fruits, Golden Delicious apples, poached pears and Ogen melons’ on the palate.
The 15-year-old expression is limited to 2,736 bottles, retailing for £300 (US$295) each.
Dalmore Distillery Select 2007 is a 17-year-old single malt finished in Italian Amarone and Port casks, creating notes of ‘rich forest fruits and vanilla’ on the palate. The expression is offered at 45.8% ABV and limited to 383 bottles with a suggested retail price of £1,000 (US$1,315).
The last of the three 2024 releases, Distillery Select 2000 vintage, was finished in French Calvados casks from the House of Drouin. Bottled as a 24-year-old single malt with notes of ‘red berries, freshly crushed apples and pears, liquorice and antique wood’ throughout the palate, the single malt is offered at 50.3% ABV.
The 2000 vintage is limited to 383 bottles and retails for £5,000 (US$6,585).
“Each of these limited edition whiskies was picked out by our whisky makers for the way the casks have complemented or enhanced The Dalmore’s signature house style,” explained Rod Gillies, brand director at Dalmore Distillery.
“These hidden gems from our dunnage warehouses will be available directly from The Dalmore – either from our boutiques, at the distillery, or online for a limited period in the UK.”
The 2024 releases are exclusively available in the UK through the brand’s website and in The Dalmore Boutiques, which are now open in Madrid, Spain; Manila, Philippines; and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Those interested in purchasing the new series are invited to join The Dalmore Guild on the distillery’s website for the opportunity to gain exclusive early access.
Earlier this year, Dalmore Distillery released the second chapter of its Luminary Series in partnership with Scottish design museum V&A Dundee. The 49-year-old whisky was sold in June at a Sotheby’s auction for US$117,400.
