Casa Barú makes its UK debut
By Miona MadsenSpirits distributor Highball Brands has brought Panamanian pot still rum brand Casa Barú to the UK.
The rum’s range includes Blanco, a white rum; Double Crop, which combines Panamanian sugarcane and Geisha coffee fruit; and Xopa coffee liqueur, made with locally sourced Caturra coffee beans.
It is now available to the UK trade, offering bars and restaurants a taste of ‘the spirit of Panama’, which can be enjoyed neat or mixed in cocktails.
Founded by Dick Barba, Casa Barú Rum is crafted in the highlands of Chiriquí, Panama, where the rich volcanic soil and rainforest climate provide ideal conditions for creating a ‘world-class’ spirit.
The rums are made from locally grown sugarcane and artisanal hand-made sugar syrup, without artificial additives or sweeteners.
“We are thrilled to bring Casa Barú and its unique coffee liqueur to the UK market,” said Fabrice Limon, founder and director at Highball Brands, Casa Barú’s exclusive UK distributor.
“Its exceptional craftsmanship and unique flavour profiles make it the perfect addition to any bar’s premium spirits selection. The Blanco offers tremendous value and quality for any bar looking for a premium quality offering of their pouring rum.”
Highball Brands’ spirits portfolio includes Eight Lands organic vodka and gin, El Cabrõn agave spirits, Fanny Fougerat Cognac and Midi aperitifs.
In February of this year, the company handed the UK distribution of Takamaka to drinks agency Speciality Brands, having distributed the rum for the previous six years.
