How Casa Natima creates Tequilera de Origen
Established in 2019, Casa Natima distillery combines authenticity, tradition, sustainability, and innovation to create world-class Tequilas in all five classifications.
Nesting in the mountainous valley of Amatitán, Jalisco, the Casa Natima distillery rises from a sea of over 20 million Blue Agave plants. Spanning 10 hectares, the distillery offers bulk and private-label distilling contracts for multiple agave spirit brands. It is committed to crafting high-quality Tequilas that adhere to the highest standards, providing clients with a final product tailored to their specific requirements.
This distillery is one of three business units owned by Grupo Solave, a prominent producer of agave solutions since 2010. The company is a leading grower of Blue Agave plants in Mexico. Grupo Solave established Casa Natima to meet the growing demand for premium Tequilas with diverse flavour profiles.
The skilled team at Casa Natima prides itself on innovating at every stage of the process, and ensuring complete traceability of the final product. From nurturing the fields to steam-cooking the agaves and stone-wheel crushing to double distillation in copper pot stills, the team believes that “every drop tells a story of origin, passion, dedication, and respect for nature”. The result is a 100% authentic agave spirit, Tequilera de Origen, from Mexico.
Not only does the distillery customise spirits to meet clients’ specific requirements, but it also ages the spirits to align with the classifications of reposado, añejo, and extra añejo in a 2,000-square-metre Tequila cellar. All spirits are aged in American white oak and French white oak barrels and bottled on-site with the assistance of state-of-the-art logistics services.
In addition to providing services for other brands, the distillery plans to launch its own Tequila brand in 2024. The brand is poised to “honour the old ways, capturing the distinct footprint of the distillery and reflecting its dedication in every step of the process, its people and origin”.
Green promise
Casa Natima is committed to implementing eco-friendly practices for a greener environment. It begins with the agave fields, certified by Environmentally Responsible Agave. This certification promotes a sustainable industry by ensuring that Tequila production is free from deforestation, thus preserving the environment.
The distillery has established partnerships to repurpose its primary residue, agave bagasse fibre. By introducing bio-pallets into its logistics operations, Casa Natima has committed to reducing deforestation by 30% to 70%.
The agave bagasse is also used to make agave briquettes that can be transformed into clean and efficient biofuel. This initiative helps reduce reliance on wood, further contributing to the company’s sustainability efforts.
Furthermore, the distillery has embraced renewable energy to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and has installed 721 solar panels.
Giving back to the community is also of the utmost importance to Casa Natima. As such, the distillery is committed to supporting social projects that benefit the region while looking after its own team by providing excellent working conditions. Fair trade, transparency, equality, and respect will always be integral to the producer’s values.
