Santo Spirits, owned by rocker Sammy Hagar and chef Guy Fieri, has rolled out its 110 Proof Blanco Tequila across the US.

Santo Spirits was established in 2017 by decade-old friends Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Hagar and celebrity chef Fieri, who sought to create a 100% additive-free Tequila made using traditional methods.

In honour of National Tequila Day on 24 July, Santo’s ‘off-the-still’ Blanco Tequila will now be available nationwide in the US, whereas it was previously only accessible through select outlets.

The 110-proof (55% ABV) expression is described as ‘an unexpectedly smooth spirit crafted with time-honoured traditions and without dilution to fully capture the agave-forward flavour that is Santo’s calling card’.

An expert panel at The Beverage Testing Institute noted: “The new Santo 110 Proof Blanco features aromas and flavours of vanilla lime cream; candied jalapeño and tomatillo; prickly pear gelatine candy; and grilled jackfruit. It has a round, vibrant, dry medium body and a warming, elegant, medium-length finish that exhibits accents of lime, celery, cilantro, mango juice, candied peppers and sage.

“With layers of interesting flavours and complexity, Santo 110 Proof Blanco smells and tastes of all the goodness of a hot summer day by the pool.”

The expression is handcrafted by third-generation distiller Juan Eduardo Nuñez and tequilera Karina Rojo from El Viejito Distillery in Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco, by using both estate-grown and sourced Blue Weber agave.

The ‘still strength’ Tequila is now available nationwide in the US, plus Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada and Japan, and on the brand’s website for US$70 for a 750ml bottle.

Santo 110 Proof Blanco joins the brand’s range of premium agave spirits, which includes blanco, reposado, añejo, and the original Santo Mezquila – the world’s first Tequila and mezcal blend.
