Daddy Rack adds cask-strength rye
Jimmy Rack, the latest release from Tennessee whiskey brand Daddy Rack, packs a big proof and is now entering the UK.
Family-owned importer and distributor Emporia Brands has announced the latest release under its Daddy Rack Tennessee Whiskey line, a cask-strength rye known as Jimmy Rack. The new whiskey comes from a mashbill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley and is bottled at 61.3% ABV.
“If the spirit is made well, the cask strengths can be some of the most beautiful expressions,” said J Arthur Rackham, master maker and blender – AKA Daddy Rack. “They’re truly uncut diamonds.”
Jimmy Rack takes its name from Rackham’s namesake, an uncle who lost his life at 19 during the Anglo-American beach landing at Salerno, Italy, in 1943.
A small batch release, Jimmy Rack was crafted from 20 carefully selected barrels. It launched in Tennessee in May with tastings curated by Daddy Rack in more than 40 liquor stores throughout the state, and now enters the UK for an RRP of £69.95 (US$89).
“I wanted to create something for bartenders globally but that would also excite the liquor store owners – an original but authentic Tennessee straight rye whiskey, high-proof, cask-strength and double-mellowed,” Rackham said.
In May, Emporia announced that it was bringing Rémi Landier Cognac and Charentais apéritifs to the UK market for the first time.
