Shinju Spirits produces Shinju Japanese Whisky. Pronghorn will not only provide investment, but will also equip Shinju with ‘supercharging’ tools, mentorship and business resources.

With Pronghorn’s help, Shinju will be able to increase its production capacity, enhance its marketing initiatives, sales and distribution efforts, and develop its Japanese whisky portfolio.

Connor McKenna, vice-president portfolio management at Pronghorn, said: “Shinju Japanese Whisky has garnered a strong reputation for its exceptional quality and craftsmanship, and we are confident that our collaboration will propel the brand to even greater heights.

“This investment aligns with our commitment to supporting and promoting diversity in the spirits industry, and we look forward to working closely with the team at Shinju Spirits to unlock new opportunities and drive sustainable growth.”

Shinju Whisky launched in 2019. It is the 24th brand to join the Pronghorn portfolio.

Janon Costley, CEO and co-founder of Shinju Spirits, commented: “This investment represents a significant endorsement of our vision and capabilities, and it will provide us with the resources and expertise needed to achieve our ambitious growth objectives.

“We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and the opportunity to collaborate with Pronghorn to elevate Shinju Japanese Whisky to new heights of success.”

Dia Simms, Erin J Hall and Dan Sanborn are the co-founders behind Pronghorn.

The organisation was established to diversify the spirits world by cultivating the next generation of Black entrepreneurs, executives and founders in the industry.

In 2021, it received investment from Johnnie Walker owner Diageo, which pledged US$200 million based on certain targets within a 10-year plan.
