Glenmorangie continues Cadboll Estate series
Highland distillery Glenmorangie has unveiled the fourth whisky in its field-to-glass series The Cadboll Estate.
The series consists of whiskies crafted from barley grown in the eight fields of the brand’s Cadboll Estate, which is located near its distillery.
Each batch is matured in designer casks for a period of 15 years. The fourth batch’s harvest came in 2007 and its ageing was done in American white oak casks, air-dried and seasoned with Bourbon – which the brand said ‘magnifies’ the liquid’s creaminess.
It is described as silky, rich and rounded, with notes of honeycomb, apricots and pears. Drinkers will then find a full and rich finish, which is ‘gentle and soothing at the same time’, ending with a lingering note of menthol.
Director of whisky creation Dr Bill Lumsden said: “Grown in just eight fields near the Glenmorangie Distillery, Cadboll barley brings our spirit even more creaminess. To accentuate its incredible softness, we aged the fourth batch release of Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate in our renowned designer casks.
“Bespoke from field to glass, this 15-year-old single-estate whisky is alive with rich, silky flavours. Honeyed aromas of apricots and pears, and tastes of butter candy, orange and melon gives whisky lovers a delicious taste of our Highland homeland, wherever in the world they happen to be.”
Bottled at 43% ABV, Glenmorangie Cadboll Estate Batch 4 is available for £76 (US$96) from the brand’s website, select retailers and the distillery visitor centre in Tain, Scotland.
Last month, Glenmorangie created a single malt matured in three different casks: Bourbon, new charred oak and rye whiskey.
In March, it also released a 25-year-old whisky exclusively for travel retail.
