Woodford Reserve debuts two GTR whiskeys
Brown-Forman has launched two Woodford Reserve expressions – Sonoma Triple Finish and Batch Proof Series 121.2 – in global travel retail.
Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Sonoma Triple Finish is finished in former Sonoma County Pinot Noir, Brandy, and Bourbon barrels that have been used for ageing red wine.
Elizabeth McCall, master distiller, said: “The result is a whiskey that brings together the worlds of Bourbon and wine in a way unlike any we’ve released before.”
On the nose, the whiskey offers ‘vanilla, cinnamon-dusted grilled pineapple slices, and red plum fruit’, while the palate has ‘vine and red fruit’, with ‘vanilla bean and oak’ notes. The finish ‘long oak’ with ‘red grape tannins’.
Batch Proof Series 121.2 draws from more than 100 different Woodford Reserve barrels and is bottled at 60.6% ABV (121.2 proof). The whiskey is an annual release that debuted in February.
On the nose, it offers ‘vanilla bean, brown sugar pecans, tropical citrus and cinnamon’; it has ‘sweet toasted oak, cocoa, and pineapple’ on the palate; and its finish is akin to ‘dried strawberry, toasted oak, and honey’.
Stéphane Morizet, marketing director at GTR Brown-Forman, said: “We are thrilled to present discerning travellers these two limited editions, which showcase exceptional highlights from the Woodford Reserve Distillery.
“These offerings are highly sought after by whiskey connoisseurs and collectors alike.”
Both whiskeys retail for US$150.
Parent brand Brown-Forman saw organic revenue decline by 2% in the third quarter of fiscal 2024, although Woodford Reserve grew by 2%.
