Ten cocktail recipes for February
By Rupert HohwielerIt’s February, which means no more Dry January – big congrats to those who made it through alcohol-free. Here are 10 celebratory cocktail recipes to whip up from home.

From Piña Coladas to spiked hot chocolates and serves for both National Margarita Day and Valentine’s Day, there’s no shortage of ways to get creative in your home bar.
While January was a sober month for many, if you’re fancy making yourself a few cocktails to celebrate passing through the month without a drop of booze, then these 10 recipes should deliver on all fronts.

Espresso Gin Martini
No vodka, no problem – the botanicals of Highclere Castle’s gin work just as well in an Espresso Martini.
Ingredients:
- 47ml Highclere Castle Gin
- 28ml Kahlúa
- 28ml Cold espresso
- 28ml Bailey’s Irish Cream
- 14ml Simple syrup
Method: Brew the espresso and let it cool. Mix Highclere Castle Gin, Kahlúa, espresso, Bailey’s, and simple syrup with ice in a shaker, and shake for 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled Martini glass quickly, so you get the foam. Garnish with a piece of lavender and two coffee beans or a touch of cinnamon.
The Ancestor
Ollie Sagerström Blom, bartender at London’s Satan’s Whiskers, thought up this Dewars-based cocktail and it’s fitting for any occasion.
Ingredients:
- 40ml Dewar’s 12 Years Old Blended Scotch Whisky
- 10ml Pear liqueur
- 1l Stones Ginger Wine
- 15ml Maple syrup
- 5ml Lemon juice
- Soda water
- Orange twist
Method: Build all ingredients in a Highball glass, and fill with ice. Add soda water and gently stir to combine. Garnish with an orange twist.
Julietta & Romeo
Impress your better half while not stressing out about complicated cocktails on Valentine’s Day with this easy-to-make serve.
Ingredients:
- 15ml Savoia Americano
- 40ml Italicus Rosolio Di Bergamotto
- 50ml Prosecco
- Gold dust and a rose petal for garnish
Method: Mix the ingredients and serve in a tall tumbler with ice. To give an extra touch of class, decorate with a rose petal and edible gold dust.
Eagle’s Nest
Didn’t make it up the mountain this winter? Get your dose of après-ski from this creamy cocktail instead.
Ingredients:
- 22ml High West Double Rye
- 22ml Gin
- 15ml Bozal Mezcal
- 7ml Fino Sherry
- 7ml Midori
- 15ml Lime juice
- 7ml Yuzu juice
- 30ml Matcha simple syrup
- 1 barspoon of crème de cacao
- 3 dashes of chocolate bitters
- Egg white
Method: Combine one part sugar, one part water and two spoons of matcha, in saucepan over medium heat. Shake ingredients with ice and then dry shake. Strain into a frozen glass. Spritz with absinthe.
Greyhound
It may as well be summer all year round when you’ve got this ultra-refreshing recipe on hand.
Ingredients:
- 45ml Langley’s First Chapter Gin
- 90ml Freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
- 30ml Simple syrup or maple syrup (optional)
- 1 Grapefruit wedge and a sprig of rosemary
Method: Pour the gin, grapefruit juice, and syrup in a cocktail shaker with four ice cubes. Shake until cold. Strain into a glass full of ice. Garnish with a grapefruit wedge and rosemary branch.
Hot Crema di Limoncello
A spiked hot chocolate with an Italian twist.
Ingredients:
- 50ml Scavi & Ray Crema di Limoncello
- 250ml Hot milk
- 12 tbsp Cocoa powder
- Whipped cream
Method: Mix hot milk with cocoa powder and stir well. Add the Crema di Limoncello, stir, and garnish with whipped cream. Let your creativity run wild when garnishing.
Orange Kiss Spritz
Picture yourself on a balcony in the French Riviera, soaking up an evening sunset, with this spin on a classic spritz made with Brockmans Orange Kiss gin.
Ingredients:
- 50ml Brockmans Orange Kiss
- 50ml Sparkling wine or Prosecco
- 100ml Pink grapefruit soda
- 10ml Red apéritif liqueur
Method: Build in a wine or Highball glass over ice cubes. Stir gently to combine, and garnish with a slice of orange.
The Curious Margarita
National Margarita Day is on 22 February, and you can honour the day appropriately with multiple servings of this mezcal-based tipple.
Ingredients:
- 45ml The Lost Explorer Mezcal Espadín
- 15ml Ancho Reyes Verde
- 20ml Agave syrup
- 25ml Lime juice
- Tajín
- Jalapeño slice
Method: Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake it up, and strain into a Tajín-rimmed, ice-filled Old-Fashioned glass. Garnish with a single jalapeño slice.
The Cheeky Peach
Another one for early Margarita Day planners, which Pantalones Tequila say is inspired by Pantone’s Color of 2024, Peach Fuzz.
Ingredients
- 42ml Pantalones Organic Blanco Tequila
- 28ml Lime juice
- 14ml Peach purée
- 14ml Cointreau peach slices and mint for garnish
- Sugar and salt for the rim
Method: Rim the edge of a glass with a lime wedge and dip in a mix of Margarita salt and sugar. Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Shake, then strain into a rimmed glass with ice. Garnish with peach slices and mint.
The Planteray Cut & Dry Pina Colada
You can’t help but feel you’re on holiday while sipping this super refreshing Piña Colada.
Ingredients:
- 60ml Planteray Cut & Dry Rum
- 105ml Fresh-pressed pineapple juice
- 22.5ml Cream of coconut
- 15ml Fresh squeezed lime juice
- 7.5ml Cream or half & half
Method: Blend all ingredients in a blender with a half scoop of crushed ice. Serve in a Piña Colada or Collins glass with a paper straw.
